Earl's FINAL PROJECT:(
For this project, I chose to do Biggie smalls in fauvism. I chose to do fauvism because for me I think its pretty easy to blend and get those dark areas and light areas to make it look like it is 3D looking. I had fun doing this project because fauvism is one of my favorite type of art I like to do throughout my senior year, I tried something new. All in all, I would recommend this project for everybody its pretty fun to do but it is a little messy, one of the techniques I used was a pencil shader which worked out pretty well in blending all the colors together. One advice I can say about this project is find your light areas and put them first them come in with only a little of your dark color, would definitely do more of this kind of projects during the summer.
Social Issue
For this project, we focused on social issues. I wanted to represent about my life, my project shows me and my family on a picture ripped through the middle meaning that the family is separating and pushing their kid away. Other than that, this project was fun but it was really hard trying to make the rip in the middle look real. Another thing I did was use a sponge for the background to make it look like it was on a bulletin board. All in all, this project was fun to do if you wanted to express or put out your social issue out there.
Culture project
For this project, I chose to do the beautiful art of henna. Henna was originally from egypt which became popular later on, Henna has many patterns. I chose to do little designs and went over the lines with henna which left cool hard texture. It's non harmful, I would definitely recommend for everyone to try henna. In my opinion, I think its pretty cool to bring back egyptian history about henna dye. all in all, I enjoyed this project.
Silk-printing
For this project, I learned how to screen print. there are meanings to my design, the mushrooms represents me because I like to doodle and most of my doodles are mushrooms, the sun represents on me preferring daylight more, and lastly my favorite are the leaves they represent my culture on one of our flags. All in all, this project was really fun to do although I did struggle with parts bleeding through and getting clogged but I just kept trying and trying it till I was satisfied, would recommend for other students to try this.
Graphic Art
In this project we had to draw something simple that is worth a thousand words, basically this image symbolizes peace. The parents are arguing and they are mad and disappointed at the kid in the middle, while the kid is just zoning everything out and trying to be at peace and not making the problem worse by talking back. All in all, this project was fun to do would do it again for fun.
Fauvism
For this project, we worked with oil pastels and I chose to do the rapper Ice cube. Blending and putting the right shadows on the project was a challenge for me because the oil pastels I used weren't really the best. On some parts I used q-tip to blend the really dark corners. On the beard I used a fine technique by doing little lines. All in all, I really loved this project at first I didn't think it would turn out great due to the troubles in blending but it turned out pretty great at the end. I would definitely recommend fauvism for other students.
Georgia O'keeffe
For this project, I picked a real seashell and I learned to work with charcoal for the first time. Our point was to draw the object big, I can agree that working with charcoal is really hard especially with blending, there's not really a mistake you can do on charcoal because you can fix it by just blending it in and just playing with it. Although, I can do definitely do better and learned my mistakes to this project.
Sketch Book
For this project, I learned to stitch the back cover of my book to hold it in together. I also did water color on my back cover and put salt to give it more detail, it reminds of a crystal. Throughout this project this was by far the best one, I have definitely gotten better at my art skills. All in all, this project was really fun to do.
